been overseeing the Indian Premier League auction since its inception in 2008
and has turned a lot of cricketers into very rich men. He is more than just an auctioneer. He's a
showman and an erudite with a touch of impactful oratory. He's seen it all -
back in 2008, he sold MS Dhoni for $1.5 million to Chennai Super Kings, then
saw Sourav Ganguly go unsold in 2011, then sold Ben Stokes to Rising Pune
Supergiant (in 2017) for a whopping Rs 14.5 crore, he's also seen franchises
come and go.

veteran British cricket commentator Brian Johnston, who died in 1994. In an

after his death in 1994. I sold the finest collection of cricket memorabilia.
Bats, balls, paintings, historic pieces." He claims that selling MS Dhoni
to Chennai Super Kings for $1.5 million is the highlight of his career.

oversee an IPL auction by former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi. Despite Modi
receiving a lifetime ban from the BCCI in 2010, Madley has continued to be the
auctioneer for the event.
7. Madley has revealed that the IPL auctions in 2008
included the highlight of his career – selling Indian captain Mahendra Singh
Dhoni for $1.5m to Chennai Super Kings. One wouldn’t be surprised if this
year’s auction takes a bigger toll on him than previous editions as a total of
513 players will be up for sale.
